Shirley Eileene Finley's Obituary
Shirley Eileene Finley, 80, of Clarksburg, WV, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017 at the WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. She was born on November 16, 1936 in Jacksonville, FL, a daughter of the late Merrille Lewis and Susie Edna (Foster) Starling.
Surviving are four sons: John D. Finley Jr. of Clarksburg, Michael D.Finley of Keystone Heights., FL, Brian E. Finley and wife Mary of Starke, FL, and Timothy A. Finley of Clarksburg; two brothers: Merrille L. "Sonny" Starling Jr., and Richard Starling both of FL; three sisters: Sandra Davis and husband Butch, Marty McCullough and husband Gene, and Sara Koon all of FL; ten grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents Shirley was preceded in death by her husband John David Finley Sr. on January 6, 1994, and one sister, Jackie Gerhardt.
Shirley was a homemaker most of her life, but in later years she would do in home care for others as needed. She was a very devout Christian, and loved serving the Lord. Shirley was a member of the Freedom Southern Baptist Church in Nutter Fort where she enjoyed helping with children's church, bible school, and taking part in mission trips with her church family. Shirley also enjoyed crochet and knitting in her free time. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 N Main Street. Burial will follow in Memorial Park East Cemetery, 3700 SE Hawthorne Rd. The family will receive friends for one our prior to the service, starting at 1:00 p.m.
