Shirley Jean Rohr Dave's Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Jean Rohr Dave at the age of 94. She left this world peacefully, surrounded by family, on November 8, 2024.
A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Shirley was the proud mother of nine children: Susanne, Cynthia, Jeanenne, Laurie, John, Patricia, Maureen, Mary Beth and Peggy. Shirley’s family continued to grow over the years, blessing her with 27 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply and kept in touch with. Family was at the center of Shirley’s life, and she took quiet but immense joy in being a guiding light for the generations that followed her.
Shirley was the beloved wife of John S. Dave, who preceded her in death in 2007. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories in Dearborn, Michigan, Columbia, South Carolina and Gainesville, Florida. Known for her strength, resilience, and kindness, Shirley had an open heart and a generous spirit that touched everyone she met. Her home was a gathering place for family and friends, filled with warmth, games, and shared stories.
Beyond her role as a devoted mother and grandmother, Shirley was a member of Holy Faith Catholic Church, an avid bridge and euchre player, and throughout her long life she enjoyed reading, dancing and big band music. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith and compassionate heart, and her ability to make everyone feel special.
Shirley’s legacy will live on through the love she gave, the lessons she shared, and the family she held so dear. She leaves behind a strong and loving family—her nine children and their families, nearly 90 all told . . . so far—who will carry her memory forward.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will be held at noon on November 29, 2024, at Holy Faith Church. Family and friends are welcome to join in honoring her life and sharing in memories. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the American Cancer Society.
