Shirley Ann Waits Crosby's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the peaceful passing of Shirley Ann Waits Crosby. Mrs. Crosby was born in Gainesville on April 25, 1935, and passed away September 3, 2021, at the age of 86.
Mrs. Crosby was of the Baptist faith and was raised in Hawthorne, Florida, formerly known as Waits Crossing. Shirley and her husband, Ernest Crosby, owned and operated Circle C Trucking Company. After Ernest’s death Shirley began working for the Malcolm Randall Veterans Affaire Medical Center. After retiring from the VA Shirley worked 10 years for Walmart.
Shirley will be lovingly remembered by her children, David Madison Poore III (Stella) of Keystone Heights, Deanne Sheffield Poore of Micanopy and April Lee Crosby of Gainesville; grandchildren, Raymond John Poore (Amy), Heather Ann Poore, Jasmine Danielle Poore (Norris), David Brandon Poore, Melissa Jacquelyn Sheffield, Stacie Chantel Sheffield and Ethan Lamar Crosby; 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Shirley will also be dearly missed by numerous relatives and friends.
Mrs. Crosby was predeceased by her parents, Raymond Wesley “Ray” Waits and Lottie Townsend Waits, her husband David Madison Poore, Jr., father of Deanne and David and her husband Ernest Lamar Crosby, father of April.
A Memorial service for Mrs. Crosby will be announced and held at a later date.
