Gail Werner
Erich and I have known Shirley and her husband, Hank, for a long time. We moved to Gainesville around the same year. We met in the Fishermen Sunday School class. We were involved with them in the food drive for the food bank. When I became the president of the class over 20 years ago, we worked closely on the finances and funding several missions, visiting the juvenile detention center and other missions in the community. We also became involved in a Friday night group of rummy card players that added joy to our life. Shirley brightened our lives with her wonderful poetry, clever wit and her generous and fun loving nature. I will truly miss her as she would take me under her wing and provide her view on problems that was truly unique. When our group began having too many health problems, we all missed the weekly card games and social hours. God has her and Hank in his arms and she is one of his brightest stars. She is probably reciting one of her poems to Him today...We love you Shirley Claire---Erich and Gail Werner
