Sherry Stinson's Obituary
Sherry Stinson, 61, of Alachua, Florida passed away on October 19, 2023.
Sherry was born in Jacksonville, Florida and grew up in Hawthorne, Florida. She graduated from Hawthorne High School and attended Santa Fe Police Academy. Sherry became one of the first female certified police officers to work for the Gainesville Police Department. After leaving the police department, she worked for GW Robinson Homes and then worked as a project assistant for CHW until her passing. Sherry loved Gator football and her in-depth knowledge of the game was beyond impressive. She was very passionate about animals. Sherry volunteered and advocated for animal rights. She rescued and provided a wonderful loving home for multiple animals over the years.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents John and Gudny Kristina Vojnovski, her husband of 33 years, Dennis Stinson, replacement father Kyle Ridaught Sr., brother Jim Vojnovski and stepson Scott Stinson.
She is survived by her son John Valdes and wife Dena, stepson Gene Stinson, replacement mother, Pat Ridaught Walker and husband Charlie, brother Kyle "Rowdy" Ridaught Jr., sister Ronda Ridaught Bourn and husband John.
Sherry also leaves behind her dear friend Bill Werther, CHW coworkers and close neighborhood friends, all of whom she loved dearly and were like family to her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 18th at 11:00AM at Williams-Thomas Funeral Homes located at 823 NW 143rd Street, Newberry, FL. 32669.
