Sharon Harrell Beutke's Obituary
Sharon Harrell Beutke passed away on March 22, 2021, from a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Born in 1948 in Gainesville, FL to M.D. (Mabra Dowin) and Hazel Eddy Harrell, she grew up on her family’s farm in Brooker and graduated from Bradford County High School in 1965.
Sharon worked as a bank teller for the First Federal, Savings, and Loan Association in Starke for several years.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Alachua.
One of her favorite quotes was by Rose Kennedy about raising a family: “I looked on child-rearing not only as a work of love and duty but as a profession that was fully as interesting and challenging as any honorable profession in the world and one that demanded the best that I could bring to it.” Sharon was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She was a wonderful Southern cook and enjoyed spending time with her family and watching Gator football and basketball games. Sharon enjoyed calling and visiting others in their time of need. She loved taking care of her grandchildren who called her “Mimmy.”
Sharon is survived by her husband of 52 years Amos, daughter, Allyson DeVito (David) of Lexington, KY, and son Jason Beutke (Kristen) of Brooker, FL, and grandchildren, Judson, Adley, Haddon, and Makayla Beutke.
Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Alachua 14005 N.W. 146 Ave. Alachua,
Florida. with Rev. Doug Felton officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow at Newnansville Cemetery Alachua, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Florida Baptist Children’s Home.
