Serena Rowe Johnson's Obituary
Serena Rowe Johnson, age 80, of High Springs, FL, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020, with her children by her side. She was born on April 25, 1940, in Sylacauga, AL, to John Maston Rowe and Vera Bell Downs.
Serena was a retired Rural Carrier of the U.S. Postal Service and a retired School Bus Driver for the Alachua County School Board Dept. of Transportation.
Serena was titled Ms. Sylacauga High and crowned Homecoming Queen. She was a member of the BETA Club, a Majorette, and played the Xylophone and piano. Serena was a Master Angler and was the recipient of the John Elliott Award by the Gainesville Offshore Fishing Club.
She is survived by her children: Randle K. Webb and Sherri L. Webb; stepchildren, Jeanne (Donnie) VanWie, Robert Jernigan, Steven (Patricia) Johnson, Betsy (Steven) Gabbard; grandchildren: Ty Jones (Ashleigh), Ayla Jones; step-grandchildren; Austin (Samantha) VanWie, Ashley VanWie, Heather Moseley, Kyle Moseley; her great-grandchildren: Londyn, Eli, McKynzie, and her great-nieces: Jamie Muse and Brandi Majia and their children: Johnna, Lucius, Aryia.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilton T. Johnson; father: John Maston Rowe; mother: Vera Bell Downs; sister: Joy Ann Thorne; brother: Jerome M. Rowe: stepchildren; Francine Jernigan.
The family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Plantation Oaks Senior Living Center and Vitas of High Springs for the love and care of Serena over the past several years.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020, at 11:30 A.M. at the Williams-Thomas Funeral Home, Westarea Chapel, 823 NW 143rd Street, Newbury, FL 32669.
