Dr. Sandy Kent Sanders' Obituary
Dr. Sandy Kent Sanders, age 89 of Gainesville, passed away Monday, April 28, 2025. He was born on October 15, 1935 in Atlanta, GA.
Dr. Sanders father was a professional photographer, so he and his family moved around a lot, mainly around south Florida. Dr. Sanders proudly served in the United States Army where he was a Medical Technician. He attended the University of Florida medical school and graduated in 1964.
Dr. Sanders was pediatrician in Gainesville for over 50 years, seeing generations of patients. He enjoyed photography, fishing, motorcycles and was a collector of pens, knives, music, and kites.
He is survived by two sons, Sandy Kent Sanders, Jr., John Wilson; grandson, Gabriel; brother, Ronnie Sanders; sisters, Susie Wheby, Charlene Wheby Shippy and their children.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Mattair Sanders.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace at Fort Clarke, 9325 W Newberry Rd, Gainesville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Orange Hill cemetery, Williston.
