SANDRA "Sandy" TYSON
A fourth generation Micanopy resident passed at Haven Hospice. Sandy retired from UF College of Law Dean’s Office as an Accountant in 2021 due to illness. When the doctors told her husband to make arrangements that she would not make it, he made the arrangements, and she received a 14-year bonus.
During those 14 years she traveled extensively with her husband. In 2016 when she lost her husband and mother, she was there for them. After their passing Sandy again traveled with Road Scholar and individually. She was on the town of Micanopy Planning and Historic Preservation Board, lot co-chair of the Micanopy Historical Cemetery, Treasurer of the Micanopy Historical Society and a docent at the Micanopy Historical Society Museum. She was a fourth-generation member of her church where she volunteered regularly. She made many new friends in her volunteer work.
Sandy would like to thank all those friends, both old and new, for the kindness and help during this last illness, it was greatly appreciated.
Sandy is preceded by her parents, J.R. Mountain, Jr. and Nola S. Mountain, and her husband of 47 years Donald E. Tyson. Surviving her is her brother John R, Mountain III. her nephew Sean Mountain (Alisa) her great niece Ashby Mountain, her great nephew Brant Mountain, niece, April Mountain String (David) great nephews, Zach, Dawson, Sam, Bode and, nephew, Robert ”Bobby” Vinson. Plus, several nephews and nieces that she lost touch with after her husband’s passing.
A memorial service will be held at her church, Micanopy United Methodist, Micanopy FL on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Al Bryan officiating.
