Sandra Allen Lovegrove's Obituary
Sandra was born on February 5, 1946 and passed away peacefully in Gainesville FL on August 31, 2023, while holding hands with her beloved husband, Tom Lovegrove, always by her side.
Sandra was predeceased by her father Dwight Allen and mother Billie Robinson Allen. She also lost her dog Walker and hopes he will be wagging his tail in excitement when they meet again.
Sandra was a loving wife, sister, and aunt. Sandra is survived by her devoted husband Tom; cherished sister Janet; nieces/nephews - Elizabeth, John (Kristin, Magnus, Charlie), Caitlin (Moses, Mina, Evie), Don (Ruthie).
Sandra grew up in Gainesville and attended J.J. Finley Elementary, Westwood Jr. High, and Gainesville High School. Her college years included Vanderbilt University and The University of Florida, with an English Literature degree and Masters in Education.
Sandra had a 16 year career at Sears, Roebuck and Co in Chicago’s Sears Tower in the field of Human Resources, and at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago as a Compensation Manager.
Sandra married Tom on September 21, 1985 at St. James Cathedral Chapel in Chicago. They have shared their life together in Lincoln Park Chicago and Gainesville.
Sandra enjoyed international travel with Tom to Italy, Croatia, Turkey & the Greek Isles, and domestically to Grand Teton, Yellowstone National Park, and vacations with family and friends.
Sandra belonged to Trinity United Methodist Church Chapel, 4000 NW 53rd Ave. in Gainesville. She was an active member in Pathfinders Sunday School, Tuesday Night Study Group, PEO Chapter, and Family Promise. She also enjoyed being a part of The Golden Girls Group and GHS Reunion Committee.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church Chapel, 4000 NW 53rd Ave. with Rev. Catherine Fluck Price and Rev. Steve Price officiating, on September 18 at 11:00 AM, followed by a luncheon in the Atrium.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The American Cancer Society https://www.cancer.org/ and/or Trinity United Methodist Church in Gainesville,https://www.trinitygnv.org .
