Samuel William Johnston III's Obituary
Samuel William Johnston, III, age 79 of Gainesville, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2014 in Shands UF Hospital. He was born October 14, 1934 to Samuel William, II and Lucy Warring Johnston in Panama City, Florida and grew up in Dade City, Florida. Mr. Johnston proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and then attended UF Medical School. A third generation photographer, he founded Johnston Photography in 1960. Mr. Johnston was of the Presbyterian faith.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Terrone Johnston; sons, David (Yvonne) Johnston of Gainesville, FL and Sam William Johnston, IV of Tampa, FL; brother, Donald Johnston of Bat Cave, NC and two granddaughters, Marissa and Arianna. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Johnston.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, November 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m., in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street, with Pastor Dawn Day officiating. Mr. Johnston will be privately laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery.
