Sammy Franklin "Sam" Strickland's Obituary
Mr. Sammy Franklin “Sam” Strickland, 69, longtime resident of Micanopy, Florida, died Wednesday, August 30, 2017 in Gainesville, Florida, following a long illness.
Mr. Strickland was born and raised in Charleston, West Virginia, lived for many years in Miami, Florida, graduating from the University of Miami and Nova University. He worked as an accountant in Hollywood, Florida, before moving to Gainesville, and beginning a career with and eventually retiring from the University of Florida. He was preceded in death by his mother, Zelda Strickland.
Survivors include; his wife of 29 years, Gail M. Strickland; his father, Kermit Strickland; and a brother, Paul Strickland.
Graveside funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at 11:00 A. M., in the Hawthorne Cemetery.
