Ruth Zimmerman's Obituary
Ruth Leonard Zimmerman, 95, passed away peacefully at River Garden Hebrew Home on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. Ruth and her beloved husband, Paul, were married 68 years until his passing in 2020.
Ruth was born and grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. Ruth and Paul lived in Gainesville since 1953.
They had three daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and David Greenberg, Susan and Norm Cohen and Lynda and Howard Kosoy. They had seven loving grandchildren Jonathon Cohen (Pam), Andrew Kosoy (Jen), Meagan Jones (Stephen), Jennifer Shook (Gabe), Janna Cohen, Joshua Kosoy (Rebecca) and Kayla Greenberg and nine great-grandchildren Hannah, Alex and Lily Cohen, and Eli, Ariana and Avery Kosoy, Jack and Daltyn Jones, and Isla Shook.
Ruth's family was very important to her and she loved the many visits from children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was an active member of Congregation B’nai Israel, Sisterhood and Hadassah and loved participating in synagogue activities.
She was predeceased by her parents, Leo and Mary Leonard; her special Aunt Sylvia Wexler; sister, Mildred Statland; and brother, Aaron Leonard.
She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joyce Seitz and her children and grandchildren; her niece and nephews Larry, Barbara and Jeffrey Statland; and nephews Steven, Adam and Jared Zimmerman.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, August 26, at 1:00 p.m. at B'nai Israel Cemetery, at the corner of East University Avenue and Waldo Road with Rabbi David Kaiman officiating.
