Ruth Bach Auerbach's Obituary
Ruth Bach Auerbach passed away Friday, August 29, 2014 at her home. She was born in Mettmann, Germany on October 27, 1915, one of five children in a small town outside Dusseldorf. She met and married her husband Julius, who was a butcher by trade, in Germany. They left Germany in 1938 and made their home in New York City, owning a delicatessen before retiring to Florida.
They lived in Gainesville to be near their only son and daughter-in-law and three grandchildren. A very gregarious woman who was a self-taught baker, she worked in sales to be near people. When her husband died, she moved to the Atrium, where she has lived happily for 23 years continuing to bake for family, friends, and residents, to socialize and laugh.
She will be missed by her son, David, and his wife, Carol; their three children, Rachel Auerbach-Nachwalter and great grandchildren, Paige, Jack and Luke Nachwalter; Simon and his wife, Leor, and children Eden and Adam, and Jacob and wife, Debbie.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, August 31, 2014 at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street, with Rabbi David Kaiman officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Central, 4100 NW 39th Avenue.
