Roy LaPoint Jr.'s Obituary
Roy LaPoint Jr., age 76, died August 18, 2023 at his home in Waldo, Fl.
Roy was born on February 15, 1947 in Gainesville, FL to Roy H. LaPoint Sr. and Wanda Carr LaPoint. He served in the U.S. Army and retired from Gainesville Regional Utilities as a Gas Service Manager. He attended First Baptist Church of Waldo.
Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in the yard, and spending time with his family at their cabin in the mountains.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mynelle G. LaPoint, his daughters Monica (Preston) Towns, Michelle (Michael) Byrd, and Granddaughters Ashley Axson and Brooke Towns. Roy is also survived by his sisters Elizabeth (Dick) Orton, Dee (Pete) Recine, and Judy (Tom) Wilson.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Waldo, 14370 FL-24, Waldo, FL. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Forest Meadows Central Cemetery, 4100 NW 39th Ave., Gainesville, FL.
