My wishes to the family for many good memories of your mother and grandmother. Rosemary was always a joy to work with. She and her husband had a beautiful collection of art and artifacts from around the world. One of the masquerades Dr. Manis had collected in the late 30s-early 40s in Liberia was in the University Gallery collections when I arrived at UF. It is a valued part of the Harn Museum collection now. Over the years Rosemary allowed me to borrow objects for exhibitions on campus, and some of those she and her sons generously donated to the African collection. One is on view in the current African gallery exhibition. In addition, a photographic album and other memorabilia from Dr. Manis’s Liberian stay are now a part of the UF Libraries digital collection. Rosemary was fun to talk with, had a world of experience to draw from in conversation, a gracious individual, and very generous with the objects she and her family enjoyed in her home.
