Rosemarie "Rose" Cameron's Obituary
Rosemarie Cameron was born November 10th, 1951 in Evanston, IL to Joseph F. Ottlinger and Faye Evelyn Wienke. From a dairy farm in Wisconsin to the logging woods of Oregon, Rose grew up with a strong work ethic in her family. In Oregon she attended Southern Oregon University majoring in Pre-Med; Rose obtained a B.S. from S.O.U. Rose’s travels as an adult took her across many states. During these travels and experiences Rose became a union Electrical Worker as well as honed in her craft as a general contractor. Being a female carpenter in the late 70’s and early 80’s was a feat in itself, but this was something Rose enjoyed and excelled at. While working for General Electric, her travels took her to Utah. Out dancing one night, Rose met Glenn. While working for General Electric at the power plant together, the superintendent for General Electric vouched for Rose and her outstanding work ethic and Glenn hired Rose and her crew. The two married in Delta, Utah 1985. The job finished up and in the fall of ’86 their next adventure began as they moved to Florida.
Cameron Bend Angus Ranch was just a dream when the two moved to their homestead, purchasing their foundation herd of 5 registered Angus cows the summer of 1990. The first calves were born January 1991. Rose was encouraged by several F.F.A. members to show the cattle. In their very first heifer jackpot, Rose came home with Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion. The tradition continued as they traveled the show circuit throughout the state of Florida. 247 Grand and Reserve Grand champion winners; 14 at the state fair. For seven straight years, Cameron Bend Angus Ranch won Florida Cattlemen’s Premier Angus Breeder, Angus Bull and Angus Female. With homes throughout Florida, CBAR Bulls and Black Rose females have influenced the genetics in the south. In 2007, 13 CBAR Black Rose females and one bull became the first herd of Angus cattle on Cayman Brac in the Cayman Islands. The heard was named The Royal Angus Herd in honor and respect for the Queen.
Rose’s next adventure was to bring another dream to fruition; design and build her own home. After all she was a carpenter by trade and she had built the 30x60 shop, the pump house and the deck on their first home at the ranch in 1987. In 2002, after building the four car garage she started on her plans for their 4800 sq. ft., 130mph hurricane code home. The permit was approved on July 8th, 9 months later April of 2003 they moved in.
Rose is multifaceted. To know Rose was a privilege. Rose did not see you for your outward appearance, she saw what was on the inside; she saw your heart. To know her was to know hard work, perseverance, dedication and love. There are so many words to describe Rose. Vibrant is the consensus. Rosemarie is loved and missed dearly.
