Roscoe "Papa" Tanner's Obituary
Roscoe Tanner (“Papa”), 89 of Archer, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2017. Roscoe was born in Wyley, Florida to Marcus and Maude Tanner on April 8, 1927. He served in the United States Navy. Roscoe loved to whistle, whittle and weld, he used to say "I can mend anything but a broken heart". He worked over 35 years at Maddox Foundry in Archer, FL. Roscoe was a member of the Archer Church of Christ, he loved his family, was an avid hunter and fisherman and a member of the Chiefland Hunting Club and McGee Branch Hunt Club.
Roscoe was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Homer Tanner and great granddaughter Megan Alyssa Caldeira. He is survived by the love of his life, wife of 70 years, Evelyn Sprenkle Tanner; his brother, Donald Tanner and sister, Dorothy Coggins, and his five children, Betty Tanner, Connie Scott, Carol Padgett, Marcus “Dan” Tanner, Sharon Thames; grandchildren, Joel Tanner, Josh Scott (Emily), Nick Scott (Amanda), Amy Tanner Caldeira (Mark), Kelly Padgett Powers (Chris), Shonverea Robinson (Leo), Marcus Tanner, Daniel Tanner, Alex Tanner, Naomi Tanner Dasher (Wayne), Tiffany Thames, Jared Thames (Heather) and many great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be held Friday, February 24, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., in Laurel Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior, beginning at 10:00 a.m., at the cemetery. Reception will follow at local Archer Community Center, 16671 SW 137th Ave. Archer, FL 32618.
