Rosalinda Sagayadan Brown's Obituary
Rosalinda Sagayadan Brown, 76, peacefully passed away on March 1st, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Rosalinda was born in the aftermath of World War II on December 28, 1946, in the Philippines to parents Theodoro and Nestora Sagayadan. A consummate “mama” from the start, she was the second oldest of nine children and spent much of her childhood looking after her younger siblings. Rosalinda pursued a degree in Accounting from the University of the Philippines and held various positions in male-dominated upper management before traversing the globe and finally immigrating to the United States in 1976.
In 1977, she met Edgar Brown and their romance unfolded in the broken, ungovernable metropolis that was New York City in the 70’s. Three years later he proposed and they were wed in a breathtaking ceremony at St. Patrick's Cathedral in NYC on November 28, 1981.
In 1983 she gave birth to her first and only child, Vanessa Florene Lauren Sagayadan Brown. When Vanessa came into the family, Rosalynne decided to set aside her own career ambitions and gave her life over to being a mother and wife. When not spending her days supporting her husband and child, Rosalinda was a dedicated prayer warrior in the Holy Roman Catholic Church. She served most recently as a leader in The Precious Blood Ministry of Northern Virginia, fostering community through prayer groups. Rosalinda was fierce, fiery, and fantastic right up to her final breath.
She is survived by her husband Edgar, her daughter Vanessa and son-in-law David, six of her nine siblings, and four grandsons Papi, Alexander, Trey, and Alaster.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Faith Catholic Church in Gainesville, FL. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. The event will be live-streamed from the chapel in order to allow her family and friends from across the globe to participate in this celebration of her life. In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Haven Hospice North Central Florida Hospice at www.communityhospice.com and/or Holy Faith Catholic Church at www.holyfaithcatholicchurch.org both in Gainesville, FL.
