Ronald Louis “Ron” Akers, II
Mr. Ronald Louis “Ron” Akers, II, 51, of Bell, Florida died Monday, January 13, 2014 at his parents’ home, following a long illness.
Ron was born on December 22, 1962 in Lexington, Kentucky. Ron was a master machinist by trade, working in various places, before moving to and settling in the Gainesville area in the early 1990’s, and beginning a long career with the Crom Corporation. He was a musician, a guitarist, singer and songwriter. Ron had a warm and charitable heart, doing for others whenever he could, he had a strong work ethic, even when his illness tried to hold him back, Ron pressed on. He will be missed greatly by his friends and family.
He is survived by his parents, Ronald and Caroline Akers, of Gainesville; a brother, Levi Akers, and a sister, Tamara (Lee) Phillips, all of Tampa; a fiancé, Elizabeth Gordon of Bell, along with several nieces and nephews.
A memorial celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2014, at 11:00 A. M., in the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd St., with Rev. Mike Taylor, of Westside Baptist Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to the Benevolence Fund of Westside Baptist Church, 10000 West Newberry Road, Gainesville, FL 32606.
