Ronald Bruce Burleigh's Obituary
Micanopy--Ronald Bruce Burleigh, 79, died Tuesday at his home in Micanopy following a brief illness. He leaves his sister Sondra; wife of 60 years, Nancy; three children David, Robbie, and Becky and her partner Celia Slater; three grandchildren David Jr., Chris and Brittney; as well as one great-grandchild Alexis; and many close friends.
Born in Holden, MA to Robert and Greta Burleigh, Ron graduated from Holden Regional High School and on to a career as a machine maintenance foreman at Heald's and Wain-Roy. He also served in the US Army as a military policeman. In 1977, Ron moved the family to Florida where he worked at Amp Inc for over 20 years.
Ron met the love of his life, Nancy, whom he married in 1957. He was a compassionate and diligent caregiver for Nancy, who had MS most of her adult life. Ron, and Nancy in her electric scooter, were frequently spotted at flea markets and Gator soccer matches, watching their daughter coach the team. Ron and Nancy enjoyed country living at their homestead, Peaceful Acres, where they raised goats as pets.

A Celebration of Ron's life will be held this Saturday, Feb. 18th, from 1pm - 4 pm, at his daughter's residence: 2001 NW 27th Drive, Gainesville, Fl.
