Romie Williamson's Obituary
Romie Williamson, age 90 of Hawthorne, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018 at North Florida Regional Medical Center. Romie was one of eleven children born to Robert and Tennessee Wiley Williamson in Wayne County, West Virginia and was the last surviving of the eleven. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Romie worked as a coal miner for 20 years before moving to Florida in 1969. In 1972, he started Williamson’s Food Store in Melrose and worked up until his last days. Romie was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
Romie is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Twila Mae Adkins Williamson; children, Bruce (Charlene) Williamson of Melrose and Brian (Lisa) Williamson of Melrose and four grandsons, Wesley, Scott, Mark and John Curtis Williamson.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 11:00 am, at Eliam Baptist Church, 6009 Hampton Street, Melrose, with Dr. L.D. Osteen officiating. Interment will follow in Eliam Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials to Melrose Library Association, P.O.
