Roger Allan Yorton's Obituary
Roger Allan Yorton, age 78, of Alachua passed away Monday, March 7, 2016. He was born May 15, 1937 in Saginaw, Michigan to George and Lillian Martin Yorton.
He was an environmental consulting engineer and retired after 32 years from CH2M Hill and then became a master gardener. He loved gardening. He was a volunteer docent at Kanapaha Botanical Gardens leading tours and taught classes, additionally he volunteered at the Alachua County Extension office.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia “Patty” Yorton of Alachua, FL; daughters, Susan Reimer of Turin, GA and Victoria Lee DeYot of Gainesville, FL; granddaughter, Shelby Reimer; sister, Shirley Yorton Edgemon Freemont, CA and nephew, Timothy Yorton and family of Tracy, CA.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Jennifer Ann Yorton.
A celebration of his life will be held later in the spring at Kanapaha Botanical Gardens. The family would like to thank Haven hospice for the wonderful care Roger received. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kanapaha Botanical Gardens in his memory at 4700 SW 58th Drive, Gainesville, FL 32608.
