Roger Jose Davila Jr passed away on Sunday, March 27th, 2022. He is survived by his loving wife Nicole, devoted parents Lucy and Roger, brother Luis Manuel, as well as many uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Roger was born in M Read Obituary
My condolences to the Davila family. I worked with Roger for a brief period of time at North Florida Eye Center in Gainesville while I was in college studying at Santa Fe. We became good friends and even went on a fishing trip together. He was such a kind, caring and gentle soul. I will always remember him and keep him in my heart until we meet again in heaven. ❤️
My heart is with you Nicole. You both shared a beautiful bond and Roger will forever live on through the memories you created. To Roger’s parents, I know part of you both is gone now. I had the opportunity to work with Dr. Davila during my final externship before graduating optometry school. Dr. Davila was a very kind and patient person. He was a great physician and I feel grateful to have had the chance to learn from him. I will be thinking of his family and loved ones during this very difficult time.
I will always remember his smile and kind manner in working with our blind and visually impaired veterans in Ocala and Gainesville. We will miss you. God be with you tIll we meet again.

Roger, I knew how wonderful you were even before meeting you in person, when you applied for residency training at Gainesville VA Optometry Clinic. We were elated when you matched with us! It was an absolute joy to play a part in your journey to becoming the amazing doctor you became! I was ALWAYS SO PROUD of you! You were not only an excellent doctor, but such a truly GOOD MAN. I will always miss you. I am thankful I had the chance to both teach and work alongside you. Rest in peace, Roger. You've left an indelible impact in my life and in this workplace. Dr. Davila was one of my attendings when I was a resident. He was not only knowledgeable but kind and patient to us, the students, and those he cared for in clinic. I am sure that I, along with my co-residents, will always cherish the year we were able to work with him. His family and loved ones are in my thoughts and prayers.
