Rodney Leon Cook's Obituary
Rodney Leon Cook, age 60 of High Springs, Florida passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2020. He was born November 7, 1957 in Orlando, Florida to Donald Wilmer, Sr. and Shirley Lavern Gregg Cook.
After graduating high school, he attended Florida Gulf Coast University for 2 years. He lived and worked in Las Vegas a couple of years and then returned to Gainesville to work with his father, being a co-owner of Cook and Sons’ Construction until retirement, when he went back to school and then became a Security Guard at the VA Hospital in Gainesville.
Rodney had a great love for all sports, he enjoyed playing golf and watching mystery shows. He loved cooking and making meal for his family.
He is survived by his mother, Shirley L. Gregg; his children, Kristina (Chad) Purvis of High Springs; Bobbie Jean Polk of Lake City; Cathan Cook of Gainesville; Bailey Cook of Alachua and Auburn Cook of Gainesville; brother, Donald W. Cook, Jr. of Fort White; sister, Elizabeth Elaine Giles of High Springs and six grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2119 SW 16th Street, Gainesville, FL 32608.
