Roderick W. Gilbride Sr.'s Obituary
Roderick W. Gilbride, Sr., age 89 of Gainesville, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015 in North Florida Regional Medical Center. He was born March 13, 1926 in Brooklyn, New York to Daniel and Sara Briggs Gilbride. Roderick proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. In his free time he enjoyed golfing and reading but most of all spending time with his family. Roderick was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mae Gilbride of Gainesville; sons, Roderick Jr. (Stacy) and George (Kathleen), both of Gainesville; brother, James Gilbride (Mary); sister, Carol Stine (Rodney); grandchildren, Roderick III, Jillian (Troy) Stafford, Carolyn, Amanda, George J. and Charles and great grandchildren, Logan and Adyn Stafford. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Lillian, Dorothy, Ida, Marjorie and Helen.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 17, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 10900 SW 24th Avenue, with Fr. Kazimierz Ligeza as celebrant. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 16, 2015, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street, with a prayer vigil beginning at 6:00 p.m.
