Robert Lee Townsend's Obituary
Robert Lee Townsend, age 74 of Cross Creek, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at his home. Robert was born December 14, 1943 in Bradford, PA to Dorsey Lee Townsend Sr. and Marietta Maxine Ford Townsend. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Robert worked as a mechanic, commercial fisherman and was the owner of The Bait House.
Robert is survived by his mother, Marietta Townsend of Cross Creek, FL; children, Amy Lee Johnson (Matthew) of Ocala, FL, Thomas Ray Townsend of Interlachen, FL and James Townsend of Ocala, FL; sister, Linda Johnson of Eastman, GA; brothers, Samuel “Ray” Townsend Sr. of Lake City, FL, John Townsend of Niceville, FL and Dorsey Lee Townsend Jr. of Cross Creek, FL. Four grandchildren also survive him.
A brief memorial service will be held Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Providence United Methodist Church, 13705 East CR 1474 with Pastor Mark Ward and Pastor Dan Blasiole officiating. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m., in Townsend Cemetery, 17675 SE 49th Place, Hawthorne, with military honors. The family will receive friends Friday, July 27, 2018, 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street.
