Robert L. Reynolds' Obituary
Robert L. Reynolds, 88, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away on Monday, December 8, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 2, 1937, in Cairo, Georgia, Robert was the son of Andrew Robert Reynolds and Alma Cooper Reynolds.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Robert’s greatest joy was his family. He was a steadfast Georgia Bulldogs fan, an avid fisherman, and someone who treasured every moment spent with those he loved. He also enjoyed reading, sharing fishing stories, and watching old cartoons and westerns. Robert was a faithful attendee of North Central Baptist Church, where he found fellowship and community.
At the age of 18, Robert joined the United States Air Force, proudly serving his country for 20 years. Following his military career, he continued his service to aviation as an air traffic controller with the Federal Aviation Administration for 25 years.
Robert found peace on the water and fished whenever he had the chance, especially enjoying bass fishing. His warm humor, gentle nature, and the stories he loved to tell will be remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 30 years, Maynell; his sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Joseph F. Prince; and his son, Andrew “Drew” Reynolds.
Robert is survived by his brother, Steve (Anita) Reynolds; his children, Robert Lyn (Sheila) Reynolds, Rodney Lee Reynolds, James Ellis (Jennifer Yager) Martin, and Todd (Jennifer) Martin; grandchildren, Amanda Bailey, Alan Reynolds, Rebekah Martin, and Nic Yelverston; and his great-granddaughter, Shelby Bailey. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will cherish his memory.
Robert’s dedication to God, Family, and Country will never be forgotten. He often said “No one here but us chickens” when people came to visit.
Gone fishing - go catch that big one.
A Memorial Service to honor Robert’s life will be held Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Williams-Thomas Westarea Chapel, 823 NW 143rd St., Newberry, FL, with Pastor Calvin Carr and Brad Crawford officiating.
