Robert Joseph Reid's Obituary
Robert Joseph Reid, age 71, of Gainesville passed away at home Wednesday, November 15, 2017. He was born May 11, 1946 in Union City, New Jersey to Edward Aloysius and Anna Elizabeth Sullivan Reid.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Kathleen Reid; daughters, Jennifer Bailey and her husband Robert, and Kristen Janke and her husband Peter; brothers, Edward Reid and his wife Joan, Kevin Reid and his wife Susan, and Harry Reid and his wife Elizabeth; five grandchildren, Lauren, Alex, Taylor, Desmond and Simon.
Bob worked as an electrical engineer and after retirement from Dupont, he became a self-employed consultant engineer.
Bob enjoyed life to the fullest and was loved by all who met him. He had a lifelong passion for helping people. If something needed to be fixed or built, friends and family knew he would be there with the right tools and knowledge to get the job done. He also helped rebuild areas that were destroyed by natural disasters such as New Orleans, Haiti, and Dominica. Bob found joy in many things such as waterskiing and flying his plane. His biggest joy, however, was his family. Bob was a beloved husband, dad, and grandpa.
A life celebration gathering will be held Monday, November 20, 2017 at 10:00 A.M. at the Baughman Center, 982 Museum Road, Gainesville, Florida. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Habitat for Humanity or Rebuilding Together North Central Florida.
