Robert James O'Boyle's Obituary
Robert James “Jim” O’Boyle, 77, of Gainesville, FL, passed away on the morning of February 11, 2023.
Jim was born on October 17, 1945, to Robert John and Jeanne Elizabeth (n. Heino) O’Boyle in Evanston, IL. He was the second oldest of five (Roberta Patzold, Patrick, Thomas, & Terrence), a veteran of the Army National Guard and a graduate North Park College, in Chicago, Illinois. Jim went on to pursue a career in insurance, starting at Allstate where he met his wife and lifelong companion Kathleen Ann (n. Oates) O’Boyle. Jim and Kathleen were blessed with three children, Robert Charles, Colleen Elizabeth and Ryan James.
In 2004, Jim and his family relocated to Gainesville, FL, where he served as Senior Vice President at Safeway Property Insurance. He was also President of the CPCU Society’s North Central Florida Chapter, an avid golfer and member of Gainesville Country Club and Hawkstone Country Club, member of “Band of Brothers” at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, and beloved grandfather to three boys.
Jim is survived by his children Robert (Claribel n. Gonzalez), Colleen and Ryan, grandchildren James Michael O’Boyle, Jackson Robert O’Boyle and Nicklaus Patrick O’Boyle, nieces Elizabeth Patzold, Brigid (n. Patzold) Bolotin, Samantha Patzold, Emily O’Boyle, Jennifer (n. Sanders) Steinert, and nephews Fred Patzold and Mason Bolotin.
Jim is predeceased by parents Robert John, Jeanne Elizabeth, and siblings Patrick and Terrence.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 at 10:00AM at Queen of Peace Catholic Church 10900 SW 24th Ave. with Fr. Al Esposito as celebrant. Inurnment will follow the mass. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association, www.heart.org or UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital www.childrensmiraclenetworkhospitals.org
