Robert William "Bobby" Jackson,'s Obituary
The Jackson family mourns the passing of our beloved brother, Robert William “Bobby” Jackson, 65. Robert was a lifelong Gator and resided in Gainesville for most of his life. He passed away peacefully on Monday morning, March 17th, following a brief illness. Family and friends knew him as a friendly and energetic person who was always eager and ready to lend a hand to help others.
Robert was born in Jacksonville, Florida and graduated high school there before moving to Gainesville. He graduated from the University of Florida and spent much of his career in the architecture and building construction industry, working on many public and private projects in Gainesville and the surrounding areas. He worked at Lowe’s in southwest Gainesville later in life. He is known for his friendliness and wry sense of humor, and he was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and being around the water. He was a wonderful uncle who adored his three nieces, always carrying photos of them in his wallet.
An avid fan of all the Gator sports teams, Robert always followed their fortunes closely. Talking about the Gators always made him smile. He always had a “Go Gators” and “Gator Chomp” at the ready, along with the latest news and stats for any of the teams. He especially loved attending as many Gator baseball games as he could. During his final illness he was buoyed by the Gator basketball team’s claiming the 2024-25 SEC Championship. “It’s great to be a Florida Gator!”
Robert is preceded in death by our mother and father, Norma Jackson, who passed away in July 2024, and George Jackson, who passed away in August 2022. He is survived by his four siblings Kelly, Patrick, Stephen, Thomas, and their families, three nieces Kelly, Caroline, and Emma, and many extended family members. Robert is already missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, March 28th, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Holy Faith Catholic 747 NW 43rd Street, Gainesville FL. Committal ceremony will follow immediately at Forest Meadows Cemetery – Central, 4100 NW 39th Ave in Gainesville.
