Robert Jury Gridley's Obituary
Robert Jury Gridley, age 83 of Gainesville, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015 in Shands at UF Hospital. Robert was born December 25, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio to Stanley and Marian Jury Gridley. He was a metallurgical engineer and worked in management and staff positions at IBM in Owego, New York and Boca Raton, Florida. Robert and his wife Alice lived in Boca Raton for over 25 years and then moved to Gainesville, where they have resided at Oak Hammock for over 7 years. He was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Gainesville.
Robert is survived by his wife of 34 years, Alice Heling Gridley; children, Richard Gridley, Susan Hajra (David), Thomas Gridley (Katie) and April Crockett (Samuel); sister, Janet Dickson and four grandchildren, Jason and David Gridley, Jenna Johnson and Sean Hajra.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at 2:00 p.m., at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Gainesville, with The Rev. Maureen Killoran officiating. A light reception will follow. Burial will be at a later date at Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery near Micanopy. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the UUFG Foundation Fund, 4225 NW 34th St. Gainesville, FL 32605, the Oak Hammock Benevolent Fund at Oak Hammock at the University of Florida, 5100 S.W. 25th Blvd. Gainesville, FL 32608, or charity of your choice.
