Robert "Bob" Alvie Snook's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Alvie Snook, 82, of Micanopy, FL passed away December 5, 2013.
He was born to the late Leonard & Martha Snook, Jan. 29, 1931, in Wayside, NE.
Bob served his country in the Korean War and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for an aerial flight on Oct. 18, 1952, where he was honored for his high personal courage, outstanding ability and devotion to duty. Bob was a rancher at the family ranch in Sundance, WY and moved, in the early 70s, to Marathon, Florida Keys, where he became a large equipment mechanic and foreman for Keys Grading & Paving.
Bob was affectionately called Poppy. He enjoyed life and traveling, was an avid reader and he loved his family dearly. EVERYONE who met and knew Poppy respected and adored him.
Bob is survived by his beloved daughter Orianna (Ron Myers), Micanopy, FL; son Kevin (Estrella), Pembroke Pines, FL; his grandchildren Justine, Robert and Sebastian; a sister Marlene Cooper, Sundance, WY; a sister-in-law Jance Snook, Hartington, NE; and nieces and nephews that affectionately called him “Uncle Bob”.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, December 14, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN 404 North Main Street, In lieu of flowers the family requests charitable donations be made to Friends of the Library (Bob Snook Memorial Fund), 430-B N Main St, Gainesville, FL 32601.
