Robert "Bob" Lee Bark's Obituary
Robert “Bob” Lee Bark, age 71, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away on Saturday, December 6, 2025. He was born on June 12, 1954, in Butler, Pennsylvania, to Robert C. and Shirley A. McIndoe Bark.
Bob graduated from Seneca Valley High School and earned an associate degree from Slippery Rock University before continuing his nursing studies at Penn State University. After his time at Penn State, he began his career at the VA Hospital in Gainesville. He later earned a master’s degree in Psychiatric Nursing from the University of Florida.
Throughout his decades-long career, Bob served in various nursing roles, with a special dedication to psychiatric care. His work as both a Registered Nurse and a Psychiatric ARNP touched countless lives. Bob was known for his calm presence, his compassion, and his unwavering commitment to helping those who needed it most. He believed deeply in lifelong learning and stayed current in his field throughout his entire career. He worked for many years at the North Florida Evaluation and Treatment Center and ultimately retired from Northeast Florida State Hospital.
Bob married the love of his life, Teresa Rogers, and together they built a strong and loving blended family. He cherished his daughter, Lacy Mount (Rob), and he lovingly embraced Teresa’s children by marriage—Andreya Whitenack and Johnathan Whitenack—as his own. To all three children, he offered guidance, support, and a father’s steady love. Bob was also blessed with a granddaughter, Journey Long, who brought him great joy.
Bob loved playing softball in local coed leagues. He was a passionate sports fan, especially cheering for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins, along with the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Florida Gators. He also enjoyed art and appreciated creativity in all its forms.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa; his daughter, Lacy (Rob); his children by marriage, Andreya and Johnathan; his brother, Gregory J. Bark (Lori); his granddaughter, Journey; his nephew, Alex J. Bark; and a host of extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
Even as Alzheimer’s changed his world, Bob’s tender heart, gentle humor, and deep capacity for love remained. Those who walked this journey with him witnessed a grace and courage that will always be remembered. As his family releases him now from the struggles of this life, they take comfort in knowing that he will run into the arms of Jesus—our dear Bob, finally at peace and finally home.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Gainesville Baptist Church, 3570 NW 16th Blvd, Gainesville, with Pastor Brad Noble officiating.
