Richard Zader's Obituary
Richard Zader, also known as “Rich”, “Dick”, “Grandpa” and “Pop”, peacefully passed away surrounded by family and friends, September 12th in Gainesville, Fl . Born November 1st 1928 in Egypt, Pennsylvania to Frank & Anna Zader.
He was loved and cherished by his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Bernadette Kram Cockerham Zader, and son Clyde (Fran) Cockerham.
Survived by daughters Patricia (Norman) Craig, Margaret (Dickie) Zamora, and Linda (Jim) Kirkland; grandchildren, Nick Cockerham, Bill Cockerham, Keith Cockerham, Melissa McDiffit, Matt Cockerham, Summer Brooks, Brian Craig, Dena Perry, Christine Zamora, Michelle Tell, Eric Zamora, Jennifer Duncan, and Heather Dearie; 31 Great grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, and his best friend George Carrol.
A proud Korean War Veteran, Rich was a man of GOD who was fiercely dedicated to his family. He retired as a maintenance supervisor from Charlotte Vo-Tech, Pt Charlotte FL and moved to Gainesville in 1997 to be closer to family.
Dick was a man of many talents, he loved gardening and cooking. He was especially proud of his flower beds and adding fun foods to the grandkids meals. He had an eye for art and enjoyed crafting and woodworking, often making macramé Christmas crafts and home décor gifts for family members. He was a talented musician, especially playing the organ much to the joy of his family and friends. He had a beautiful life and will be dearly missed.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea 823 N.W. 143rd Street Newberry, FL. with Pastor Robert Carr as officiant. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Countryside Cemetery 10926 N.W. 39th Ave. Gainesville, FL. with Military Honors.
