Richard "Rich" Curtis Shewmaker's Obituary
Richard “Rich” Curtis Shewmaker, age 73 of Gainesville, passed away at his home on Monday, November 20, 2017. Rich was born August 7, 1944 in Jacksonville, Illinois to Richard Lee and Velma LaVerne Blair Shewmaker. He proudly served in the United States Air Force in the Vietnam era. Rich began his career as an EMT. He worked over 30 years as an emergency room nurse, a traveling nurse for many years and ended his career on the Big Island of Hawaii at Kona Community Hospital. In his spare time, Rich loved cooking, photography and spending time with his family.
Rich was preceded in death by his father, Richard Lee Shewmaker. He is survived by his mother, Velma Shewmaker of Gainesville, FL; sister, Kathleen Miller (Michael); brothers, Michael Shewmaker (Keiko) and Paul Shewmaker (Sandy); 6 nieces and nephews and 11 great nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 4:00 p.m., in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street.
