Richard "Dick" Griffiths' Obituary
Richard "Dick" Griffiths, 91, died peacefully, knowing he was deeply loved by his family, on February 24, 2023, in Gainesville FL. Dick was born to Louise (Hoffman) Griffiths and Frank Griffiths on July 6, 1931, in Youngstown, Ohio.
Dick joined the Marine Corp after high school, received a business degree from Youngstown State University and a master’s degree in business from Kent State University. After a successful business career in the oil services and aviation industries, Dick retired from Raytheon aircraft as vice President of Human Resources and Administration.
Dick lived a full life and was a man of deep faith. He loved and was immensely proud of his family. He taught his three sons to be honest, to work hard, and to be men of character. Dick had many interests, all shared with close friends and family. After he retired and moved to Gainesville, he enjoyed meeting with his friends, playing a round of golf and then lunch where conversation included sports, Notre Dame and Gator football, some politics and always sharing any new jokes.
Dick leaves his wife Alma of 65 years, his sons, Rick (Louise Tharrett) of Boston, MA; Greg (Sarah) of La Crosse, WI; and Doug (Alicia) of Geneva, Switzerland. He will be missed by his six grandchildren: James, Noelle (Lucas) Holiday, Helen (Jake Peterson), Alex, Claire, and Delaney and all his nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank all of those who made Dick's last few months comfortable, particularly the teams at the Village Memory Care Facility and Haven Hospice.
