M. S. Mayer
I was a newly hired scientist at the USDA laboratory when it moved here from Orlando in 1963. Among those who moved with the Laboratory when I arrived was a superb group who had served in WWII. All these were really fine people whom I still remember, admire and respect to this day. Dick was one of these whose friendliness and sense of humor stood out and placed him squarely into a smaller group whose sense of humor and eagerness to help a young man beginning a career was and is, still, deeply appreciated. Goodbye, Dick, you are the last of a magnificent group.
