Richard "Dick" W. Hunt's Obituary
Richard “Dick” W. Hunt, age 95 passed away Friday, April 14, 2017 at the E.T. York Hospice Care Center in Gainesville, Florida following a short illness. He was born August 14, 1921 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He proudly served his country in the United States Coast Guard, joining on July 28, 1942 as an Apprentice Seaman. He operated Hunts Coffee Shop on 9th Street in Oshkosh from 1945 to 1969. He met and married the love of his life, Dolores Ebel on December 14, 1968. Residing most of his life in Oshkosh, Dick and Dolores enjoyed visiting their daughter, Gail in Gainesville for over ten years and decided to move to Florida in 2015 to live with Gail and her husband. Dick loved fishing and camping, and enjoyed traveling with his family and going on cruises. He built many things in his tool shop, including rocking chairs and cradles, and added a room onto his home. He enjoyed doing word search books on the lanai, and going around on his scooter. He loved slot machines, dancing, playing cards, and Wendt’s in Oshkosh was his favorite restaurant. His favorite song was “Please Release Me” and was a lover or any kind of Hawaiian music and Jim Reeve’s music. He had to watch the CNN News every day. Everybody Loves Raymond was his favorite show.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice M. Matsche Hunt; sister Margaret Hunt; brothers, Lawrence Hunt and Bernard Hunt.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Dolores May Hunt; five children, Carolyn, Mary Ellen, Elizabeth, Stephen, and Joseph; three step-children, Dianne, Kathy, and Gail; 14 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren 9 step great grandchildren and 1 step great great granddaughter.
