Richard Alan Clark's Obituary
Richard Alan Clark, 71, longtime resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Monday, May 22, 2017 in the E. T. York Hospice Care Center, following a long illness.
Mr. Clark was born on March 4, 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a young man, he joined the U. S. Army, and following his discharge moved to Miami, Florida, graduated from the University of Miami in 1972 with a major in Biology and minor in Chemistry. He then began a long career with the Florida Department of Agriculture, moving to Gainesville in the early 1980’s, and after 35 years, retiring as a Bureau Chief for plant inspection. He loved working on his yard and being outside, and most importantly, spending time with his family.
Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his wife Marie Clark, father Charles Clark and mother Regina Clark.
He is survived by two daughters, Cristina (William) Watkins, of Ruskin, and Stephanie Clark, of Gainesville; a sister, Barbara (Bill) Cook, of Yakima, WA; two brothers, Edward Clark of Reno, NV and Peter (Nancy) Clark of Princeton Junction, NJ; and by two grandchildren, Owen Watkins and Caelan Watkins, both of Ruskin.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 2:00 P. M., in the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd St. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606.
