Hi Daddy.

So many professional accolades of you. Mine is simple. You loved us kids to a fault! We learned all about life from you, and then some. You took your responsibilities to a point we couldn't even conceive of. More than all of this, you demonstrated the human condition of love and family.

Thanks for the tool box and drill, I really freaked out a couple of boyfriends when I knew more than they about wood working and tools. Ha! I can see you smiling big.

WHAT A FINE SPECIAL PHYSICIAN, TEACHER, PERSON AND GATOR DR. HACKETT WAS!

I INTERNED IN MEDICINE IN HIS HOME TOWN IN VERMONT AFTER HE LEFT VERMONT AND THEN HE TAUGHT ME PATHOLOGY FOR TWO YEARS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA.
FRIENDLY! WITH A SENSE OF HUMOR THAT S OMETIMES HAD AN EDGE! ONE COULD SENSE THE GREEN MOUNTAIN BOY IN HIM.
WHEN HE WAS TEACHING ME AT UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA, SOMEONE
MISPLACED SEVERAL
PATHOLOGY SPECIMENS. DR. HACKETT GOT DOWN ON HIS KNEES WITH US TRAINEES AND WE FOUND THEM!
ALTHOUGH A DISTINGUISHED PROFESSOR, HE WAS ALWAYS KIND TO ME.
HE DEMONSTRATED HEROIC COU5RAGE TOWARDS HIS PARKINSONISM.

I worked with/for Dr. Hackett for many years at the University of Florida, and I can still see him standing in the hallway twirling a rubber band in his hand....he was never without one. Rest in peace Dr. H.
