Randall "Randy" Alan Staples' Obituary
Randall Alan “Randy” Staples, 65, longtime resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at his home, peacefully in his sleep.
Mr. Staples was born November 15, 1959 in Evansville, Indiana to the late George and Georgia Staples, and moved to Gainesville as a small child. He graduated from Eastside High School, Class of 1977. Randy, soon after began a long career as an accountant at the University of Florida, Office of Finance and Accounting; a career he held for 30 years until his retirement in 2024. He was a lifelong fan of the Florida Gators, he enjoyed traveling, but his greatest times were spent with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Stewart Staples; two daughters, Crystal (Dorian) Trunk and Jennifer Staples; and one grandson, Tyson Trunk, all of Gainesville; a sister, Rebecca (Michael) Shea, of Orlando and a brother, Richard (Melissa) Staples, of Tampa.
The family will host a gathering of friends and family on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 P. M., at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 North Main Street, Gainesville.
