Ralph Sheffield's Obituary
Sheffield, Ralph, age 87, passed away at Haven Hospice House surrounded by his beloved family on Friday, September 19, 2025. He was born on October 27, 1937, in Whigham, Georgia.
He was one of five children to the late Burney and Elma Barfield Sheffield. He is preceded in death by his siblings Gene Sheffield, Agnes Ruff, Clorine Sheffield, and son Tony Sheffield.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Sandra Summers Sheffield, his sister Helen Mahaffey of Cairo, Ga, his four children Sheila Weaver of Thomasville, Ga, William Clark (Leigh Ann) Tallahassee, Mark Clark (Denese) Newberry, Kim Sheffield (Carla) of Waverly Hall, Ga, 10 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.
He was a lifelong meat butcher working for Publix before opening Sheffield’s Meat Market in Jonesville, FL. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed gardening and cooking, and loved the legend, George Jones. He was a fast pitch softball player in his younger years and won a State Championship in Cairo, Ga. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. He enjoyed hosting and being surrounded by his loved ones, especially while rooting for the Florida Gators.
Funeral services for Ralph Sheffield will be held Monday, September 22, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd Street Newberry, FL 32669, with Pastor Andy Cook officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M.
A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, 19 Th St, Cairo, GA 39828, Tuesday morning at 11:00 A.M.
