Rachel Winifred Barnes' Obituary
Rachel Winifred Barnes, age 79 of Newberry, Florida passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2020. She was born December 2, 1940 in Jasper, Florida to Cleve and Rachel Highsmith Hunter.
Our Petunia. We have always known you as beautiful, and fiesty. You hit on the waiter every time we went out and could spend the whole day in Walmart and not buy a thing. You were the kind of person that didn't bend their will for anything, strong minded until the end. Our family has always been all about the drama, and although most of us didn't get along you were the link between us all. You loved regardless of what anyone had to say about it and although frustrating, We admired that about you. You were so funny, and quick on the trigger; you could always make us laugh even when the conversation got heavy. We will love you to the moon and back, forever. Even though we knew we would lose you soon we still weren't ready. We know you're cracking jokes and so happy to be with your sisters and friends. You were an amazing woman. We didn't tell you that enough.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emery W. “E.W.” Barnes and granddaughter, Amber Fedelem.
She is survived by her daughters, Julie A. Barnes, Deborah K. Brock and Kimberly S. Parker; sister, Betty Jo Hodge; grandchildren, Timbre Bevak, Jordan Barnes and Dustin Barnes; great grandchildren, Ash Howard, Rikki Jefferson and Stevie Parker.
Family will receive friends, Monday, August 24, 2020 from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd street, Newberry with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m Rev. Jim Riley officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Meadows West Cemetery.
