Philip Eugene Zinn Jr.'s Obituary
Philip Eugene Zinn, Jr., age 60, passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 in E.T. York Care Center. He was born September 25, 1954 in Key West, Florida to Philip Eugene, Sr. and Jacqueline Zinn. A native conch until 5 or 6 years old, he grew up in Miami. He was a nature lover who loved to feed birds, going to the beach with family and surf fishing. Philip loved family more than anything; being “soccer mom”, taking kids to practices and other activities. He had a great sense of humor, enjoyed oyster roasts with friends, singing Elvis songs and was an avid Gator fan. He was always happy, friendly and took pride in his work, consistently doing ” a fine job” as he kept Westwood Middle School running well as the plant mechanic. A dedicated member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Philip served as an usher and on the offertory committee.
He was preceded in death by his father, Philip Eugene Zinn, Sr. and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sissie Crafton and Dr. Jack Allen Crafton, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Crafton Zinn; daughter, Danni Lynn Zinn; son, Philip Evan Zinn; mother, Jacqueline Zinn; sister, Patricia C. Schoonover (Wade); brother-in-law, Jack Allen Crafton, III (Mary); nephews, Joshua Crafton (Amanda), Jack Crafton, IV and Sean Crafton and niece, Danielle Schoonover.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 500 NE 16th Avenue, with Fr. Roland Julien and Fr. Dung Bui as celebrants. Interment will follow in Micanopy Historic Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 13, 2015, 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., with the prayer service at 6:30 p.m., at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorials to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 500 NE 16th Ave., Gainesville, FL 32601 or Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd., Gainesville, FL 32606.
