TSGT Peter Hermansen's Obituary
TSGT Peter Hermansen, USAF (ret.), passed away peacefully at the age of 92, and was a resident of Waldo, Florida. (08/15/1933 – 12/10/2025).
Born in Staten Island NY to the parents of Irving & Lillie (Johnson) Hermansen.
He was a military veteran, for 4 years in the Navy, 16 years in the Air Force and retired in 1971 as a Tech Sargent. He began his Navy career as a member of Jet Propulsion Squadron 1. After a brief civilian life as a Rod Buster in the construction industry, he re-enlisted into the Air Force where he worked on F-102’s and his favorite, the F-105 Thunderchief. Also retired from Broward County School Board after 20 years in 1993.
Married to the love of his life, Gearldine Addie (Baker) Hermansen from 1967 to her passing in 2012. He leaves behind a son, Irving Christian Hermansen (wife: Billie) from Florida, two stepdaughters (which he always considered his daughters), Patricia Wandel (husband: Bob) and Carol Smith (husband Albert) both from Kansas. Grandchildren, Brian Smith, Sarah Struthers, Paul Daughtry and Nathaniel Hermansen. Great grandchildren, Ace, Tuff, Addie and Sage Struthers and Ash Daughtry. Sister, Joyce Muscarella.
He loved fishing, military, reading historical based books, cutting grass and being around his family and pets.
