Peter Harold Blumer's Obituary
Peter Harold Blumer, 71, resident of Cross Creek, Florida, died Tuesday, December 15, 2020 in Gainesville, Florida, following a long illness.
Mr. Blumer was born on February 2, 1949 in Peekskill, New York to the late Frederik and Winifred Blumer. As a young man, he joined the U. S. Navy and proudly served during the Vietnam War. He came to Cross Creek, in 2011 and was a member of the New Cross Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Blumer was a proud member of the Mohawk nation, a gifted craftsman, leatherworker, woodworker and artist, handcrafting many native American items. He was a giving man, twice donating his hair to the “Wigs for Kids” program and will be remembered by his family as a wonderful grandfather. He was preceded in death by one brother, Eugene Blumer.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Cobb-Blumer; one daughter, Brandy Blumer; stepchildren, Heather Tabor, Penny Lynn Crouch, and Inga Emery; two brothers, Fred Blumer and Richard Blumer; four sisters, Candy Camarco, Lori Blumer-Murray, Betty Costello and Penny Blumer. Six grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 12:00 P. M., in the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Hawthorne, 301 South at Lake Avenue, with Rev. Dan Blasiole, officiating. Interment with military honors will be held at Florida National Cemetery, Tuesday, at 1:00 P. M.
