Pearleta Wilson Carr's Obituary
Pearleta Wilson Carr, 86, of Gainesville, FL passed into her Heavenly home Friday, January 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Mrs. Carr was born on November 10, 1938 in Cedar Key, Florida, to the late James Nardie and Bertha Wilson. Her family moved to Gainesville in the 1950’s, and she graduated from Gainesville High School, Class of 1957. In 1959, she married James G “Jimmy” Carr, Jr. The couple both retired from Southern Bell and raised 3 children together. She was a follower of Jesus Christ and a member of Westside Baptist Church in Gainesville. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed the outdoors, and loved keeping her grandchildren. Known affectionately as “Mema,” she set a loving example to all of service above self. She will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Carr was preceded in death by her husband Jimmy, her brother Kenneth Wilson, sisters Daisy Slaughter and Thelma Dykes. She is survived by her three children, Cheryl Ann Mikell (Brian) of St. Augustine, James G “Bubba” Carr, III (Jan) of Gainesville, Robert William Carr (Myra) of Gainesville; eight grandchildren, Brittany Harris (Bobby), Jonathon Mikell, Jeremy Mikell, Jarrett Mikell, Clarissa Carr, James G Carr, IV (Christina), James Monroe Carr, Marianna Carr; and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will take place Thursday, January 23, 2025, at 11: 00 a.m. at Williams Thomas Westarea, 823 NW 143rd Street, Newberry, Fl 32669 with Pastor Myra Monroe Carr officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Meadows Cemetery, 4100 NW 39th Avenue, Gainesville.
