Paul Christian Gonnsen's Obituary
Paul Christian Gonnsen, 88, of Reddick passed away January 29, 2018 at Brandley Hospice House. He was born May 5, 1929 to Adolph and Frances Rachel Kinard Gonnsen.
He grew up in Reddick, after graduating high school in 1947, he joined the United States Navy. He was stationed on an aircraft carrier and was the navigator on a plane called Avenger. He later joined the Air Force and retired after 21 years of service. After retirement with the military he went on to earn degrees in Education and Outdoor Park Administration.
He retired with Florida Power in 1992 after 19 years. To say he enjoyed woodworking and gardening would be an understatement. They were his passions and he was a master of both. Leaving behind a trove of prized creations.
He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Rhoda Gonnsen; children, Paul Rexford Gonnsen (Donna), Rhonda Kay Young (Lynn), Daniel Gonnsen (Theresa) and Susie Hewlett (Rick); two brothers, James Smith and Daniel Smith; 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Marjorie Gay.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Reddick, 15250 NW 42nd Terrace, Reddick with Pastor Harold Henderson and Pastor Deborah Mak officiating. Interment will follow in Millwood Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service beginning at 10:00 a.m. +
