Mrs. Patricia A. Resta's Obituary
Mrs. Patricia A. Resta of Naples, Florida, passed away on July 7, 2022, at Haven Hospice E.T. York Care Center in Gainesville, Florida. She was 79.
Mrs. Resta was born on January 26, 1943, at Bayonne Hospital in Bayonne, New Jersey. She graduated from Saint Henry’s School in Bayonne, then moved to Monmouth County, New Jersey, where she graduated from Red Bank Catholic High School. She attended Monmouth College (now Monmouth University) in West Long Branch, New Jersey from which she graduated with a bachelor’s degree.
Mrs. Resta was a middle school teacher at St. Mary Star of the Sea Parish School in Key West, FL. She also taught at the adult education level, teaching stenography, shorthand and typing. A high point for her professionally and personally was being able to serve as a member of the faculty of her alma mater, Red Bank Catholic High School.
In 1972, Mrs. Resta moved to Naples, Florida. She began a second career a few years later, working for the State of Florida Job Service for many years as a Veterans’ Service Representative. Mrs. Resta took pride in being a founding parishioner of St. William Catholic Church in Naples. She was a volunteer for several years at Naples Community Hospital during her retirement. She loved to travel with her late husband, especially to her native New Jersey, visiting her family in Arizona, and traveling to the mountains of North Georgia.
Mrs. Resta is survived by her son, Gregory Behr (Anna), of Windsor, CT, by her daughter, Jacqueline Crews (Mark), of Gainesville, FL, her grandchildren, Anthony Behr of Windsor, CT, Christina Behr of Lake Mary, FL, and Matthew Crews, Gainesville, FL, her brother, Bill (Lisa) of Phoenix, AZ, and stepsister, Marilyn Williams, of Chandler, AZ. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, F. Edward Resta, her mother and stepfather, Helen and John Sloan, and by her father and stepmother, Frank and Rose Cassidy. She is also pre-deceased by her brother, John Cassidy, stepsister, Nancy Horman, and by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joseph and LenaBelle Resta.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. William Catholic Church in Naples, FL with internment directly following. The family would especially like to thank the staff at Beach House in Naples, at The Plaza Health and Rehab in Gainesville, and at Haven Hospice E.T. York Care Center in Gainesville.
